Spingi (Fried dough)

Notes

 

Deep fryer recommended or large pot.

Ingredients

 

- 4 ½ Cups Sifted Flour

- 2 Packages of active Yeast

- ½ Cup Sugar

- ¼ Cup Butter

- 1 Pinch of Salt

- 1 Pint of Milk (Luke warm)

- 1 Tsp. Vanilla

- 4 Eggs

- 1 ½ Tsp. cinnamon

 

Instructions

 

* Beat sugar, eggs, and butter to cream.

* Mix with sifted flour.

* Mix yeast and warm milk gradually.

* Mix with flour mixture.

* Let dough rise for 45 mins. – 1 hour in bowl.

* Depending on size of fryer or pot add enough Crisco to saturate the dough.  Remember to leave room for adding the dough.

* Heat fryer or pot to 375 degrees.

* When oil is ready use a tablespoon to scoop out dough and insert into pot.

* Deep fry until golden brown

* Sprinkle powdered sugar to your liking (Regular sugar may be substituted).
